For the Crust
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
For the Cream Layer
2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
For the Fruit Layers
3–4 bananas, sliced
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, thoroughly drained
1 cup strawberry pie filling or mashed sweetened strawberries
For the Topping
1–2 cups whipped topping
Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
1/2 cup chopped peanuts or walnuts
Maraschino cherries
1. Prepare the Crust
In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch glass baking dish. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes until firm.
2. Make the Cream Layer
In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and well combined. Fold in the whipped topping until light and fluffy.
3. Assemble the Base Layers
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
4. Add the Banana Layer
Arrange banana slices around the edges of the dish, then distribute the remaining slices evenly across the cream layer.
5. Add the Pineapple Layer
Spread the thoroughly drained crushed pineapple evenly over the bananas.
6. Add the Strawberry Layer
Carefully spread the strawberry pie filling or sweetened strawberries over the pineapple layer.
7. Add the Topping
Spread a generous layer of whipped topping over the dessert. Drizzle with chocolate syrup, sprinkle with chopped nuts, and garnish with maraschino cherries.
8. Chill and Set
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the layers to set properly.
9. Serve
Slice into squares and serve chilled. Wipe the knife clean between cuts for neat presentation.
Drain the pineapple extremely well to prevent excess moisture.
Use slightly firm bananas for the best texture and appearance.
Refrigerating overnight provides cleaner slices and enhanced flavor.
Lightly brushing banana slices with lemon juice can help reduce browning.
For extra indulgence, add a layer of mini chocolate chips beneath the whipped topping.
