A quick and easy Italian Lazy Pasta recipe made with simple pantry ingredients for a comforting, flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights.
12 ounces (340 g) spaghetti, penne, or your favorite pasta
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14 ounces / 400 g) diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup reserved pasta water
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil
Extra Parmesan cheese for serving
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente.
Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water before draining.
Drain the pasta and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add minced garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
