These fudgy red velvet brownies are the ultimate Valentine’s Day treat—rich, romantic, and easy to make with a pop of red and hint of vanilla.
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, red food coloring, and vanilla until smooth.
Add wet ingredients to dry and stir just until combined—don’t overmix.
Pour batter into prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is just set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares.
Add ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped walnuts for extra richness.
No buttermilk? Mix ¼ cup milk with 1 tsp vinegar and let sit for 5 minutes.
Top with cream cheese frosting or dust with powdered sugar for a festive touch.
