Fudgy brownies layered with creamy mascarpone and a hint of espresso for a rich dessert twist on the classic Italian tiramisu.

Ingredients

For the Brownie Base:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

4 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 tsp salt

For the Tiramisu Layer:

1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tbsp powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup strong brewed coffee (cooled)

2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)

For the Coffee Syrup:

1/4 cup strong brewed coffee

2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)

1 tbsp granulated sugar

For the Topping:

Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Make the Brownie Base:
In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing until fully incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake the Brownie Base:
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.

Make the Coffee Syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine the brewed coffee, coffee liqueur (if using), and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Prepare the Tiramisu Layer:
In a mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Assemble the Tiramisu Brownies:
Once the brownies are cooled, use a fork to poke holes all over the top of the brownie base. Drizzle the coffee syrup over the brownies, allowing it to soak in. Then, spread the mascarpone mixture evenly on top of the brownies, smoothing it out to cover completely.

Chill and Serve:
Refrigerate the brownies for at least 2-3 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set. Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder.

Serve:
Slice the brownies into squares and enjoy the creamy, coffee-infused goodness of these Tiramisu Brownies!

Notes

If you want a stronger coffee flavor, you can increase the amount of coffee syrup or use more coffee liqueur.

These brownies can be made a day ahead for the best flavor and texture.

You can replace the mascarpone with cream cheese for a slightly different taste, though mascarpone gives it a more authentic tiramisu flavor.
