These Thai Basil Beef Rolls are a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner packed with juicy ground beef, fresh basil, and crisp vegetables wrapped in soft rice paper. Inspired by vibrant Thai street food, this easy appetizer recipe delivers bold savory flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

For the Filling

1 lb lean ground beef

2 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup chopped bell peppers

1 cup fresh basil leaves

For Rolling

8 sheets rice paper wrappers

Instructions

In a skillet over medium heat, add the lean ground beef, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked.

Add shredded carrots and chopped bell peppers. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still vibrant.

Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool slightly.

Pour warm water into a shallow dish. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for 10–15 seconds until softened (not overly soggy).

Place the softened wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon a portion of the beef mixture into the center and top with fresh basil leaves.

Fold in the sides, then roll tightly from the bottom up to form a secure roll.

Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Serve with sweet chili sauce or peanut sauce for extra flavor.

Do not over-soak rice paper; it continues softening as you fill it.

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken.

Best enjoyed fresh, but can be refrigerated (covered) for up to 24 hours.
