A fun twist on Taco Tuesday! This easy taco pizza combines refried beans, seasoned beef, salsa, cheese, and fresh toppings on a golden pizza crust.

Ingredients

1 (12–16 oz) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 lb ground beef

1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning

Water (as called for in taco seasoning instructions)

1 (15 oz) can refried beans

¼ cup salsa

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend cheese)

¼ cup sliced black olives

Optional Toppings:

Diced tomatoes

Sliced green onions

Sour cream

Taco sauce

Instructions

Let dough rest: Place pizza dough on the counter at room temperature for about 20 minutes to relax.

Cook beef: In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Add taco seasoning and water as directed on the package. Simmer according to instructions. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare crust: Press or roll out the pizza dough onto a 12–16 inch pizza pan, stone, or a 9×13 baking sheet (depending on crust thickness preference).

Pre-bake crust: Bake the dough for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven.

Mix and spread sauce: In a small bowl, stir together refried beans and salsa. Spread a thin, even layer on the partially baked crust. (You may not need all of the mixture if using a smaller pan.)

Assemble pizza: Layer the seasoned beef, shredded cheese, and olives over the bean mixture.

Final bake: Return pizza to the oven and bake for another 5–7 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Add fresh toppings: Remove from oven and top with diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and a drizzle of taco sauce or a dollop of sour cream, if desired.

Notes

For a thicker crust, use a 12-inch pan; for a thinner crust, use a 14–16 inch pan or 9×13 baking dish.

Pizza dough can often be found fresh in your grocery store’s bakery section.

Make it spicier by adding jalapeños or hot salsa.

This recipe is easy to customize — try with shredded lettuce or crushed tortilla chips for a crunch!
