Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples Recipe made with tender cinnamon sugar apples, brown sugar, and buttery glaze. This easy crockpot side dish tastes just like the classic restaurant favorite and is perfect for holidays.
6–8 firm apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Peel, core, and slice apples into uniform wedges for even cooking.
Place apple slices into the slow cooker. Sprinkle with cornstarch and stir gently to coat evenly.
Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Stir to combine.
Pour in melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix gently until apples are evenly coated.
Cover and cook on HIGH for about 2 hours, stirring once halfway through cooking time.
Once apples are fork-tender and coated in a thick cinnamon glaze, serve warm.
Choose firm apples to prevent them from becoming mushy.
For a deeper flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg.
If sauce is too thin, cook uncovered for 10–15 additional minutes.
Delicious served over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or vanilla ice cream.
