Pizza Roses are a fun and easy appetizer made with pizza dough, marinara sauce, melty mozzarella, and pepperoni rolled into beautiful rose shapes. This simple baked pizza recipe is perfect for parties, Valentine’s Day, and creative family dinners.

Ingredients

1 can pizza dough (store-bought; puff pastry for flakier texture)

1/2 cup marinara sauce (or pesto / Alfredo sauce)

68 slices mozzarella (or provolone, cheddar, gouda)

1218 slices pepperoni (or mushrooms, roasted peppers, sausage, vegan pepperoni)

Cooking spray or butter (for greasing muffin tin)

Fresh basil (for garnish)

Cracked black pepper (for garnish)

Olive oil (for drizzle)

Instructions

Preparation

Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 6-cup muffin tin with cooking spray or softened butter.

Prepare Dough: Unroll pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Trim any uneven seams so the dough is smooth.

Cut Strips: Cut the dough into six long strips, each about 1–2 inches wide.

Add Sauce: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce along each strip, leaving a 1/4-inch border at the edges.

Layer Fillings: Lay mozzarella slices along the length of each strip so they slightly overlap. Arrange pepperoni slices evenly on top of the cheese.

Roll into Roses: Starting at one end, carefully roll each strip tightly into a spiral. Tuck loose ends underneath.

Place in Tin: Set each rose seam-side down into the prepared muffin cups.

Baking

Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until dough is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Cool & Garnish: Let cool for 3–5 minutes before removing from the tin. Garnish with fresh basil, cracked black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Notes

For crispier bottoms, bake on the lower oven rack.

Puff pastry creates a lighter, flakier texture.

Add Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.

Best served warm and fresh, but can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
