Meatball And Mozzarella Bake

Juicy homemade meatballs baked in rich marinara and topped with gooey mozzarella. A quick and comforting dinner everyone will love.

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef

¼ cup panko breadcrumbs

¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

¼ cup milk

1 egg

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

For the Quick Marinara Sauce (Optional):

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon sugar (optional)

¼ cup fresh basil, chopped (optional)

For the Bake:

1 jar marinara sauce (or homemade Quick Marinara Sauce above)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh or dried parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Meatballs:

Preheat broiler and line a baking sheet with foil.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic. Mix gently until combined.

Form into 1 ½-inch meatballs (using scoop or hands) and place on baking sheet.

Broil 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked through.

Make the Quick Marinara (if using):
5. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
6. Add garlic, sauté 30 seconds. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Simmer 10–15 minutes.
7. Stir in fresh basil during last 5 minutes (if using).

Assemble the Bake:
8. Preheat oven broiler.
9. Place cooked meatballs in a 9×13 baking dish. Top with marinara sauce.
10. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over top.
11. Broil 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish & Serve:
12. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve with pasta, bread rolls, or as sliders.

Notes

Double or triple the meatball batch to freeze for future use.

Fresh or dried parsley both work fine.

Serve with garlic bread or salad for a complete meal.
