Sweet, buttery, and perfectly spiced—these fried apples are coated in brown sugar and cinnamon for a cozy treat that’s ready in under 20 minutes!

Ingredients

5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into ½-inch wedges

8 tablespoons unsalted butter

½ cup packed light or dark brown sugar

1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

½ teaspoon fine sea salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Peel, core, and slice apples into ½-inch wedges.

In a large cast iron skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to coat evenly.

Cook over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender but not mushy.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Serve warm as a dessert or side dish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat or in the microwave.

Great served over French toast, pancakes, pork chops, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Granny Smith apples hold their shape well, but Honeycrisp or Fuji also work for a sweeter variation.
