These slow-cooked chicken legs are tender, juicy, and coated in a savory-sweet garlic soy glaze. An easy, set-it-and-forget-it dinner that’s full of comforting flavor.
8 chicken drumsticks
½ cup soy sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, sliced
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or parsley (optional, for garnish)
(Optional) Sear chicken legs in a hot skillet for 2–3 minutes per side for richer flavor.
Layer sliced onion on the bottom of your slow cooker.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, paprika, and pepper.
Place chicken drumsticks on top of the onions.
Pour sauce evenly over the chicken.
Cover and cook:
On LOW for 5–6 hours
Or HIGH for 3–4 hours
Until chicken is fully cooked and tender.
(Optional) Transfer cooked chicken to a foil-lined baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, and serve hot.
Searing the drumsticks before slow cooking adds a golden crust and deepens the flavor.
For even cooking, don’t overcrowd the crock pot—place drumsticks in a single layer.
Add red pepper flakes for a sweet-and-spicy kick.
Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed veggies.
