Soft, rich, and packed with sweet maraschino cherries and chocolate chips—these chewy cookies are a flavorful twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend into the wet mixture.

Fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.

Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are set.

Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Drain maraschino cherries well to avoid excess moisture in the dough.

Cookies keep well in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Great for holiday cookie trays or gifting.
