Crispy, buttery, and loaded with melty cheese and garlic – this is the ultimate side dish or snack for any meal.
1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 2 tsp dried parsley)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
Make garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Prepare the bread: Spread garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
Add cheese: Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over both halves. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Broil for 1–2 minutes to lightly brown the top, watching closely to avoid burning.
Slice and serve warm.
